The recent summer days have been filled with joy and fun.

They've been a bit rainy, but my little and I are not shy about jumping in puddles.

We've added a new pup to our family. She's adorable and completely full of energy. There have been a few sleepless nights; with the new addition; but the endless love and kisses are a total trade off. 

My son and the pup make a great pair. They run and play with one another until they both pretty much fall over. They keep me on my toes, trying to teach both of them not to be too rough with one another. Although, I couldn't help but giggle when I caught her chasing my little man through the house while he's yelling at her, "I'm not a chew toy!"

At the end of a long day they'll cuddle up on the couch and watch cartoons together. His arm around her and her head on his lap. It makes your heart melt.

Now that life is starting to settle back down a bit, I've jumped back into the creative life. I find peace in art and I hate to step away for to long. It's a part of me and I feel a little lost without it.

I've spent more days filling up my midori art journal than my sketchbook recently. The freedom of mixing media and layering goodies has just been so appealing. It's fun to expand your creative bliss. 

No worries though, I'm still sketching on every art journal page. There are so many new Cuddlebugs on the way.

Art Planner with the Filofax Malden Pocket

I love using my planner as a way to express my creativity. 

Suddenly a list of chores can make me smile a bit while looking at all the pretties surrounding it.

Fun stickers, post its, die cuts, multicolored pens...

I feel like a bit of a kid...and I love it!

I say anywhere you can make a some joy for yourself; do it.

I recently picked up a little Filofax Malden Pocket Organizer for my on the go travels.

It's a fantastic fit for your purse. There's enough room to write and it's very light weight making it easy to carry with you everywhere. It's full of pockets; it would make a great little organizer / wallet too. 

For the moment I'm filling the pages with adorable kitties and puppies.

Many of the images are vintage. I fell in love with many of the older images and now I am constantly on the look out for more. I love how unique they make my little art planner.

Creative Mary Beth Digital Stamp

I literally walked around today with a purse full of Copics. 

I was determined to get my latest illustration colored.

At one point I'm sitting in Starbucks parking lot coloring.

Every time I had a few extra minutes, I'd start digging around for markers.

It wasn't my usual relaxing way to create, but it got things done.

Sometimes you have to be creative with the time you have.

I think it all worked out well. This little Cuddlebug is adorable.

She's cute with a fun style and looks like she's ready to create.

Mori Girl

I have been so inspired by mori girl style.

Have you heard of it? It is just absolutely adorable.

It's a Japanese style that means forest girl. It's layers and frills and looks so comfy. I would guess that these girls spend forever getting ready, but it really comes across as easy comfortable fashion. 

I have found studying the clothes to be a lot of fun. The outfits work so well with my drawing style. It's quirky, with lots of interesting pieces that just add a little extra something. Creativity just jumps from the clothing onto my sketchbook. Love it!

I sketched out my first cuddlebug mori girl three times. I changed her hair and clothes a bit with each redo. About halfway through the third drawing, I realized this was it. Just what I wanted to achieve. Cute and adorable with a touch of my own style.

I thought it would be fun to show everyone a bit of my sketching process; so I took a handful of pictures along the way. Even though I decided that the last one was what I wanted; the other girls will be great to save for later inspiration.

I love the shoes in the third picture. Definitely going to have to make a cuddlebug with those sock and tights layers.

I believe I'm going to use these works in progress photos in my instagram. I've been wanting to revise the content to make it more arts and crafts related. Right now it's kind of random, but I would love it to be more of sketching, coloring, and supplies. Sticking with my own interests instead of just photos of everything around me. I honestly believe that would give me more to photograph too.

This is my goal for this week. Add little bits of daily creativity to instagram.

Taking my Time

Hello everyone,

Hope you all have been doing well and having tons of fun crafting.

I myself have been doing wonderfully. Life has been crazy busy. I feel like I'm running left, getting pulled right, and needing to go in a different direction altogether. I finally had to take a step back and focus on the quality of my daily chores instead of the quantity. I'm not getting quite everything I need accomplished everyday, but I am enjoy more of my day; so it's been a well worth it adjustment.

I'm also trying to add a little extra effort into doing things that I enjoy everyday. A little crafting here, a little drawing there. I even relax in bed for two hours this morning with my little guy watching cartoons beside me. I played on iPad while he watched his shows. Neither of us in any rush to go anywhere or do anything. It was wonderful, so completely blissful. 

Lunch time came with the joy of cooking. I love sharing the kitchen with my son. He always seems amazed when I cook. There's so much going on and so many things for him to get into. I always tell him that I'm thrilled to have him helping. And the best part is he always seems to enjoy a homemade meal so much better that fast food.

Believe it or not this is his favorite pizza. I thought he'd be like every other kid and start off with cheese, but no; not him. He love veges and a little bit of meat is okay too. He's so much like me, it's almost unreal. I love it; truly being a mother is the most exhausting but also the most rewarding job ever. Little things become so special. Things you never would have thought of. It just kinda happens and you bond more and more. I feel so blessed to be able to have so much time to spend with him. It truly is a luxury.

But I'm rambling. Just catching up really. Blogging is one of my favorite me time activities. I want to make more space for it. Writing is such a wonderful creative outlet. Almost as much fun as drawing.

Which while we're on the subject; I do have a new digi for you today. She's not quite completely colored yet, but she is just so adorable that I wanted to go ahead and share her. Just couldn't wait.

Aria & Mystic Smashbook Cover and Digi

It has been a wonderful week and I have so enjoyed creating my second smashbook cover.

It was great to have such a large surface to work with and embellish.

I already want to create another one and I haven't even filled the pages of this one yet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to fill this book with all kinds of goodies.
I already have my first set of pages planned out and ideas of cuddlebugs to include within the pages too.

This is going to be such a fun project.
I can't wait to get started and share as I go.

What Does Today Hold

Good morning everyone,

I had a long restless night last night. My son awoke at 10pm with a tummy ache and in need of cuddles and love. At midnight we were laughing, playing, and polishing off some leftovers from dinner. Around 1am he finally fell back asleep and I too laid down to try and rest for a few hours. 

I was awake by a few minutes before 5am. No reason, I just couldn't sleep. Not wanting to wake my entire home, I laid in bed and started surfing blogland on my ipad. I found a great mommie blog hop and went through every link that was attached. Some stories were great, funny, and interesting. One in particular tore at my heart strings and made me cry for quite a while.

And all of this made me wonder, What did today hold for my family?

Within moments of that though I made a decision that today would have hugs, laughter, and joy.

Today may not be perfect, but it is a gift and I'm going to enjoy it.

When my son awoke he gave me the sweetest smile, the one that says I remember last night and you helped make it better. Thanks mom, I love you. I melted a ton and told him how adorable he was and how much he was cherished. Then I told him that we were going to have the best day ever. He gave me the biggest toothy grin, and I think he's beginning to understand that the best day ever means we're gonna play and have lots of fun.

I hope everyone out there has a joyous day. 

And hopefully a new digi will help the day start out on the right track.

Hi everyone,

I'm back home from my mini vacation. It was a wonderful extended weekend. We spent time at the park, shopping, watching movies, riding bikes, and taking midday naps. I was sad to see it come to an end. Every moment was just so enjoyable. It was wonderful to have so much quality family time.

And we got some pretty fun toys while shopping too.

My hubby picked me up a new motorcycle riding jacket.

I was kinda shocked, but we woke up on Saturday and the first words out of his mouth were, "Do you want to go shopping?" 

Then I had to laugh when we ended up at the Harley store.

But, I love my new coat so I'm not complaining.

We hit the toy store after that and my son made out like a bandit. We picked up a pool; which I can't wait to blowup and let him play in, tons of Hot Wheels, and a bubble blowing machine.

He loves the bubble machine. It plays music and spits out bubbles. We spent hours outside chasing bubbles and enjoying his giggles.

 

All-in-all I'd have to say the best weekend ever.

 

Now we're back home and back to everyday life, which is still pretty great. I sat down last night full of creative energy and ready to draw. 

My latest creation is very special. She was requested by a wonderful follower.

This is my graduation girl. She's not your everyday flat hat and cape girl though. 

I spent hours surfing the Internet looking for graduation outfits outside of the US, but didn't really come up with much, so I just had to use my imagination. I knew that the hats were round and that the girls wore white dresses. 

I truly hope I did the graduates justice. I've never seen a graduation outside of the US, so I hope that I got close. It's such a special time in one's life, finishing school and ready to start a new adventure.

Hope your week is going well without to much yucky weather. Ours seems to come and go. Some days are beautiful and others are full of rain and thunder. Our next stretch of days looks pretty clear of clouds, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We have a trip to the zoo planned over the holiday weekend and I'm hoping for a beautiful warm day.

Sophia Digital Stamp

Good morning,

It's been such a busy week. I feel like I've been running in circles trying to keep up and catch up, lol.

I finally took some time yesterday to just sit outside and enjoy the weather. It was a warm and beautiful day. My son loved every moment of it too. He played in every inch of our yard, crawled all over his first swing set, and raced hot wheels all around the back porch. It was so wonderful to just watch him play and enjoy his day. He's such a little cutie and I am so thankful for every moment that I have with him.

Once he finally tired out in the late afternoon, I tucked him in bed for a little nap and did a little arts and crafts catching up.

It took me two attempts to create Pearl. I had her inked, printed, colored and was starting to place her on a card when I realized something. She didn't look quite right. I had to stare at her for quite a bit before I put my finger on the problem. I forgot to give her eyelashes and brows. Whoops. I had to laugh at myself over it. A little editing and I had her perfect.
