A Little Artwork For The Midori

I'm having an insomnia night.

I laid in bed staring into the darkness for hours.

Watched art journaling you tube videos on mute; so not to wake anyone else.

Finally I gave in and retreated to the craft room with a cup of coffee.

I did a little journaling in my Midori and decorated a few pages with stickers, paper tape, and die cuts. I've been adding little bits and pieces of love to this book for quite some time now. I carry it with me everywhere. It is the best all purpose little book I've ever found. I absolutely love it.

I have a little plastic sleeve in the front that's been empty since day one. 

I knew that I wanted a little piece of artwork for the space.

Just a cute little rough sketch.

However, I didn't want to tear a page from my sketch book or art journal to do it; 

and these books usually take priority over doodling on scrap paper.

Tonight however, I am in full on decorating my little leather bound travelers notebook mode; and that space needed attention. 

Cuddlebug Cuties Jump Rope Sketch

I think the little jump rope cutie is adorable and perfect for summer.

I am so ready to get outside and exercise.

I think this little sweetheart, being in the very front of my book, might just help keep me motivated to move a little more when the weather gets a bit nicer.

Creativity On The Go

I'm done. 

Done with winter, done with snow, done with cabin fever.

I am ready to pack my bags and go.

Go just about anywhere. A road trip to visit family. A mini vacation to see someplace new. A random park where I can enjoy the sunshine.

Life Lately

Hello all my wonderful friends,

I know it's been awhile, much to long actually. 

Life has been full of challenges recently. I'm normally a happy, perky, optimistic person, but I had a little streak of sadness take over for a bit; and even though the events would have made great stories, I really didn't want to make everyone tear up day after day.

However, I do feel I owe everyone an explanation for my extended absence.

Pretty much, it started with the death of a very close family member. She had been one of my closest friends for my entire life. Her unexpected passing left me feeling so very much alone. I found myself many times dialing her number then crying as I realized that she would never answer again. It just hurt so very much.

Then, well to make a really long story short, I fractured a bone in my arm, and it hurt more than I thought a broken bone ever would. This event truly set my art back. For the first little bit it was almost impossible to create with it, but I learned, and now I feel so much better that I can use a little art therapy to cheer me up.

Finally, the topper that just broke my heart.

I recently lost a pet. It hurt like nothing I had ever felt before. She was the first furbaby to pass in my adult life. She had been a family member since pretty much the day she was born. She was an abandoned  rescue that we hand fed formula to every few hours, I was holding her the first time she opened her eyes, the first time she took her first bite of solid food, and I was holding her close while she took her last breath. I miss her so badly, words can not even explain.

So after a handful of sad events, I was a bit lost and needed to take some time. Lately though, I've been waking up with a renewed sense of life. I'm ready to jump back up and enjoy the little things in my everyday again. Ready to be a positive and uplifting person. Ready to enjoy the activities that make me who I am. 

And most of all, ready to create! 

Art is a great release,

a great source of happiness.

I've put a lot of thought into where I want to go with my creations. I want to expand from drawing and papercrafting and add art journaling and mixed media to my list. During the past few weeks I have amassed a huge amount of supplies for this endeavor. I'm truly excited to try something new and I can wait to share the outcome with you guys.

Mother's Day

I love this little quote. I think being a mom is the best choice I ever made. And it's true; sometimes I don't have a clue if I'm doing it right, but I do it with unconditional love and lots of prayer; and I just hope that my best will shine through. That my son will learn from me, be inspired by me, and weather I do it right or wrong he'll know that I love him more than life itself. He is my everything and I am thankful that God choose me to be his mom.

Today so many are thankful to their loving mothers, and I am thankful to be a loving mother. No presents or gifts needed, I already have the best gift in the whole wide world.

Now that being said, my husband and mom had no intention of letting today slip by without showing me their love. I have the sweetest family, I love them all so very much. Together we make a good team.

I woke up this morning to these:

 Aren't they pretty. I love unique flowers. Little red, little white, some traces of pink...pretty. And they look so beautiful on my kitchen table. They make the whole room smell fantastic.

I was truly happy with my gift, but apparently I wasn't done.

This is what I get next:

So, so, so thrilled! This is my new travel sized watercolor paint set. I've really been wanting to learn how to paint. It's something that I have never been extremely talented doing but I would love to add some paint to my art journals. I think the more ways you add color the more fun the books are.

Okay, so now I'm jumping in my spot. Happy and excited. Ready to make a mess and play with my new brushes; but no wait there is one more gift.

My mom coordinated with my hubby and she brought me this:

A brand new multimedia art journal and pens.

Wow, I really mean just wow. A whole new set of art supplies. Everything I need to get started. It just completely brought me to tears. I know it's just paper, pens, and paint; but these are my kind of presents. Creative and fun. I can't wait to make something inspiring and share it with you guys.

And best part is we can all probably laugh together because my painting skills need work, lol.

It's shaping up to be the best holiday ever. And now I get to go and spend the rest of the afternoon with my mom. And the guys are going to make us dinner. Yay! So mom, I know you'll read this soon. Happy mother's day and thank you for the gifts.
