We had Harper's 2nd birthday party last weekend and it was so much fun. Harper was surrounded by friends and family, lots of sweets, gifts, and had a blast! I cant wait to see what this year brings for Harper. She is getting crazier and more grown up by the day, and I just want time to slow down!

I also wanted to mention that the knife we are cutting Harpers cake with has a very special meaning to us. The knifes were a 1st birthday gift from my aunt, and are engraved with her monogram and name. They are sterling silver and are meant to be had her whole life. We hope that we will cut her cake with these knifes each year on her birthday, and then one day she will cut her wedding cake with them. I hope they are as special to her one day as they are to me.

FABBY: Christmas Foyer and Living Room-Tour 2

I'm sharing my Foyer and Living room all decked for Christmas 2014, Tour 2.

Like I said before, I don't do great changes, I just add to what's always there and I use some of my fave pieces like this tiered blue and white Meissen server. I just add more or less and here and there, no biggie; so I hope you don't get bored, lol!

Ok, here goes some pics of a part of the house. I will post next the den where everything happens, tree and mantel... actually C'mas itself!

My eighteen year old daughter Eleanor made these thumbprint Christmas cards for a Christmas craft.  They are adorable, and only took her about half an hour to make from start to finish.  Here is how she did it.

As a parent, teaching my daughters the significance of Christmas is a responsibility I take seriously. Competing with the commercial noise generated by the retail industry can be a challenge, but not one that intimidates me. This year, I was determined to find fun, age-appropriate ways to engage my children in dialogue about the true meaning of the holiday beginning with a nativity scene.

Cranberry Orange Donuts

Homemade donuts are so delicious and perfect because you can make them in any flavor you want. Throw in a few tastes of the holidays by adding fresh cranberries and hint of citrus for a donut that is tastes so amazing that you won’t be able to eat just one. Cranberry Orange Donuts are the perfect grab for breakfast!

I am SO excited; there are just so many things I want to make, my mind has been fit to burst with things I want to make. Of course, December would need to be about a million days long in order for me to have time to make everything!
Do you have that problem too? I mean, really, it’s a good problem to have, if I was sat here like “I have nothing.” then this blog would be pretty boring!

Cookies For Santa
The Crafty Side Of Sarcasm
Cookies For Santa
Here is a roundup of Santa approved cookies. There is a cookie for whatever Santa may want, if it be peppermint, mint, cranberry, or the nontraditional Santa Pecan pie. You eat with your eyes first so give Santa something to look at while he munches. After all he is bringing toys to all good boys and girls, i’m sure he’d want a little snack and a variety wouldn’t hurt.

Starbucks Copycat Cranberry Bliss Bars
Pink Recipe Box
Starbucks Copycat Cranberry Bliss Bars Recipe |
Can you tell how much I’m loving copycat recipes lately? Over the past couple of weeks I’ve posted Starbucks copycat recipes for Starbucks caramel brulee latte and Starbucks cinnamon dolce latte, as well as Cinnabon copycat recipe for cinnamon rolls – I just can’t get enough of them! The copycat recipes have been really popular, so I hope you guys love this one as much as you have loved the others!

Every year I find myself buying lots of paper gift bags, especially for those family members for which I opt to buy a series of small items I know they need/will use throughout the year (gourmet food, bath accessories, etc). This year, in the true handmade spirit, I decided to make my own gift bags.

Hey guys!  It is the last entry in the Christmas Series and that means dessert!!  To me peppermint and chocolate are the perfect flavors for Christmas and it is my favorite flavor combination.  I wanted to make a truly festive dessert but one that was easy.
I love starting with a box cake mix and jazzing it up.  It saves me some time during the bust holidays and gives me more time for wrapping presents, drinking hot chocolate with the family and just enjoying the holidays.
This cake is a snap to make and the star is the Dark Chocolate Peppermint Ganache.

DIY Mason Jar Hanging Lanterns

I love Mason Jars. I love using them as glassware. I love using them as decor. I just love love love them. So I decided to create some hanging lanterns using Mason Jars. These are super easy to make and are cheap! I spent less than $40 and ended up with 12 Hanging Lanterns.

We love when our friend Katie F. gets creative and shares a fun craft with us!  Today she is showing us How To Dye Bottle Brush Christmas Trees!  These are so much fun and a great inexpensive way to decorate for he holidays!  You may see colorful bottle brush trees in gift shops and decorating magazines, but buying some for yourself can come at a price. Instead, why not try dying your own? Below you will find everything you need to know on how to dye bottle brush trees. In just a few steps, you can turn plain, dollar store trees into colorful ones. Here’s how!

The Race Card from a Minority Moms point of view

This was not what I set out to write about today. This is not where I like my writing to go too often.
But today these points were triggered in my mind...

While many times you will see kissing balls made out of greenery or flowers, we made our kissing balls out of ribbon. We made these for my daughter’s wedding — she really loved the whimsical look of these.
These can be used to decorate for any event or occasion. All you really have to do is change the color of the ribbon used. You can also stick small flowers or greenery in these to mix it up a little bit. What do you think?

Rare Red Seaglass from Lake Michigan and Sparkly Rhinestone High Quality Cherry Charm on Silver Bail and Chain Necklace

Red seaglass/beachglass is a rare find - and I found this one in Lake Michigan near Traverse City which is the Cherry Capital of the World!  I have carefully drilled the red beach glass into a bead to daintily dangle along with a sparkly sweet cherry rhinestone charm from silver and red jumprings from a silver slide-bail onto a silver chain. Even the lobster clasp is large for ease of use and is quality stainless steel connected to a cute tiny tag steel connector.  The chain undone end to end is 21 inches, and as worn including seaglass/cherry charm will hang 12 inches.

A Week of Sketches

I gotta admit, I've had a really nice and relaxing past few days.
It makes me feel a little guilty, but only a little; hehe.
My husband has been on a work related trip to CA, and well this pretty much left me and my little guy with the house all to ourselves.
The first night, when I tucked my son in; I looked around and wondered what to do with myself.
This little bit of extra me time started a really entertaining late night habit;
Mommy Movie Night
Everynight :)
(but only after my little was asleep)

I love horror movies, but never really get to watch them at the current point in time because they're not toddler friendly. My hubby, sadly he doesn't really care for scary movies. They give him nightmares; me however, they don't bother me a bit. It kinda freaks my husband out. He says I'm the only person he's ever seen that never flinches. I always laugh and tell him I'm generally okay, I understand it's make believe and made just to get a reaction out of someone. Plus when the background music changes you can kinda predict that something is going to happen, so I'm ready for it.
I don't know, maybe I'm unique...but I accept that.

One week all to myself. A new movie everynight.
Me and a couch full of kitties and puppies.
It was awesome.

It was relaxing. Propped my feet up and drew the whole time.
I never really made it to my desk to get anything beyond the sketching finished, but I have so many new illustrations to work with now, which is a bit exciting too.

I'll get these inked and colored soon, so that I can share with everyone.
I'm also pouring my heart into this years Christmas Angel. I really want it to be the most special and beautiful one out of the past 3 years that I've drew them.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday time.

The biggest of Hugs,

Wake Up Wednesday Linky Party

Welcome to the 44th week of

 Wake Up Wednesday "Linky"

I Cry For St. Louis

Dozens and dozens of photos; all ready to post. Beautiful works of art that contain a little piece of my heart. Hours of work, moments of true happiness...
but tonight I feel the need to vary a bit from my original plan and speak from the heart.

Truth and life; sometimes it can all be so confusing, scary, and just plain difficult.
Tonight I cry for St. Louis, Missouri.
My home.
The place where I grew up. All my loved ones, all my closest friends, all my most precious memories...

Tonight I hang my head.
Moments after the Micheal Brown verdict, the hate began.
Roiting, looting; the city is practically being burnt to the ground.
We have the news on and are listening to a scanner on the computer.
People are down, trapped, shot, dying, hurting...

It is truly like being trapped in a nightmare.
How far will these protesters take their rage?
Who does this defend?
How does this help anyone?

Hurting people that had nothing to do with the young man?
Burning your own city? Why?
What did an auto parts store, a pizza place, or a toy store, and so many more have to do with any of this? Why destory your own hometown?
This is our home.

Tonight, we sit in fear.
Maybe 20 minutes outside of the main riots.

Friends and co-works often have asked my husband and I why we stay here.
This is our home, our people... it's just were we belong; it's home.
Yes, it is a violent area. People die and are hurt everyday. The news is always full of bizarre stories, but it's part of life here. It's truly sad to say, but you learn very early on where not to go. It's almost like there is an imaginary line and you don't cross it.
All that said, my husband and I are not delusional enough to believe that we are safe 100% of the time. Crime travels...

So tonight, we sit and wait.
There will be no sleep; no peace.

Will the angry men and women make it to our door?
Truth is, if they want the house; take it.

We have a few bags packed and sitting by the door.
Toys and clothes for my son,
a few art journals and sketchbooks,
my husbands work laptop,
and a few clothes...
our cats are already in carry carriers,
our dogs have collars and leashes on,
our rats have been moved to the living room with a travel carrier placed right by the cage.

We are ready to grab our family and leave.
Nothing else really matters.
It's just stuff... it can all be replaced.

Every gun in our home is loaded and ready to go, which I really hate. It makes me so uncomfortable. There is a baseball bat right beside my nightstand... and truth is I am not amused by this either. I think it's ok to defend yourself, but the reality of it makes my stomach turn.

I've never hurt anyone, I just feel I need to prepare simply because I am in line of fire.
Doesn't matter my age, sex, race, religion, opinion...
Those that are angry don't care; they are simply taking a stand, doesn't seem to matter who they hurt.?

Tomorrow, how many will be collateral damage?
Why won't these people have the same public out cry?
They too are loved, missed, wanted...

Tonight my friends,
pray, please.

I don't care who or what you believe in. I am a Christian, and if you are not I am okay with that; as I hope you are okay with letting me rejoice in my beliefs. We are all here on this earth together. This is all of our homes. We are all different and that is a wonderful thing.
This has become a tragic event for so many people.
It is so incredibly sad.

What does tomorrow hold?

Hopefully, we can learn from this event and move forward as a society.
Make our home a better place...
one where we don't fear what might come in the night.

We shouldn't have to be scared of what's in the dark.
I had hoped the nights of peeking under my bed for the boogieman had passed... but now; is he just waiting outside of my door?
Do I have to face him head on to protect my family?

My heart goes out to the family and friends of all those that have been affected by this event.
I will hold all of you close to my heart.
I will pray for peace and safety for all;
and I will cry for all those hurting.
Tomorrow is a new day, lets make it count.
Lets move forward together.
All life is precious.
